Parallel indexing

Up until the introduction of parallel indexing, any more complex search functionalities were inaccessible while the index was being built or rebuilt. We’ve tweaked and improved the search building process. From now on, the old index will be available for your customers throughout the entire process. Customers will be able to use the search engine as usual, based on the previously up-to-date index, while the new index is being built in the background. All the Pro features will remain intact, such as fuzzy searchsearching in custom fields, and adding synonyms lists. This way you’re given the freedom to update your product base without giving your customers search-related headaches.

Here’s an illustration: an index is being rebuilt in the background, while Pro features are still available – in this case, it’s searching via a custom field (an ISBN number, assigned to any given book or magazine).

Disabling parallel indexing

For those of you who don’t want to use parallel indexing, you can disable it completely. Please add this code to your wp-config.php file:

define( 'DGWT_WCAS_PARALLEL_INDEX_BUILD', false );
